Our Millennium Journey

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1999, Pope John Paul II opened the great Holy Year Door in St. Peter's Basilica.  The door remained open throughout the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000.  On that Christmas Eve we opened the doors of St. Boniface Parish, (which had been closed on Christmas, 1998 and adorned with our Jubilee banner) as a sign of our resolve to “Open Wide The Doors To Christ” and welcome people to Christ.   More than a ritual, “Open Wide The Doors,” involved all of us and was designed to  signify our welcoming people to church.

The Jubilee celebrated two thousand years of Christ's presence in human history

"The term "Jubilee" speaks of joy;  not just an inner joy but a jubilation which is manifested outwardly.  It should be an outward, visible, audible and tangible event."
