Lent Obligations
Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence for Catholics. Good Friday is an obligatory day of fasting, for those ages 18 through 59, and abstinence for those ages 14 and over. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal and two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. –US Conference of Catholic Bishops
